Quincy Humane Shelter
at the shelter intro room she was timid and way shy, pawing at the door trying to get out and to get away - to hide, wanted nothing to do with either of us. so I sat down on the floor my side to the door. now she had to go thru me to get to the door. I did my best not to look at her and to talk softly to her. 10 minutes of pacing and trying to get to the door turned into sly snuggling up to my back. talk softly and a little ear petting to sitting in my lap. 30 minutes and I was able to pick her up for all of a minute. All adopted, snapped on her leash and out the door she went. excellent leash trained walk in the grass by the parking lot out to the car. she let me pick her up and place her in a crate that was strapped in the back seat. wiggles and a whimper - she curled up and slept in the crate for the 1 hr car ride home.
Home - so scared - at first all she wanted was to hide. and then there was the bath -- filled the tub with warm soapy water- picked her up and carefully set her in expecting a fight or fear - Surprised to find full cooperation - amazed she even lifted her paws and tilted her head up. set her out to dry and she stood still for the towelling. open the door to an all new doggy ! like a switch from off to on - full steam - she ran and played for an hour around the living room and down the hall around and around she ran until she fell over.
she spent the evening snuggled up in a lap. Bedtime what to do with her? she pounced on my bed - wiggled for 30 min. then slept thru to 7 am - woke up to wiggles.
house cats are terrified. Big Kitty in basement & Little Kitty high up on a shelf.
Very well Leash trained, no problems with the cable tie out. turned her loose in the fenced back yard and watched her run and run and run all along the fence around the pines and thru the bushes.
wiggles, slurps, and Nipper. yes she is a Nipper - she likes to grab your fingers and pull you around where she wants to go.
