incredibly well mannered --
when we leave we place a card table across the hallway to keep spaniel in the back of the house -- computer room, 1st bedroom, and the bathroom. so far this seems to work for her - no messes, nothing chewed up. and no need to crate.
she does not get up on the kitchen counters, stays out of the cupboards, does not bother with any of the stuff sitting around.
the water bowl in the kitchen is not played in or dumped. and she does not make a mess when she drinks out of the 20 gal fish tank.
she is very neat with her food and pans. no mess, no fuss. cleans up her breakfast and supper. eats her kibbles 1 bit at a time.
when she is inside -- she has learned to go out into the kitty pen when she needs to go and NOT to potty on the good rug. or just to chase the snow flakes.
she is a lap baby so she can get up in the chairs but, not on the couch.
she can have a wash rag or a sock to chew on and knows not to pickup any thing that happens to be lying around.
does not chew up cords, books, magazines, plants, etc.

P - info
This little doggy loves to run. and run, and run. simple joy of running. and running. the yard is now her race track all along the fence around the pine trees, and thru the rows of bushes. round and round all 130' x 200' back yard. add bunnies and she does not want to stop running and then you have to pick her up and carry her inside.
She has figured out how to work the doggy doors out to the enclosed kitty pen. Doggy door 1 (built into the outside wall under window in the computer room) goes outside into a plywood box with a 2nd door that has a ramp down into the pen. spaniel likes to jump up on this box and look thru the window into the computer room. -- knock, knock let me in....
Inside -- the living room opens into the kitchen and the hallway creating a circle that she has mastered running at full speed, usually with a toy locked in her jaws. favorite play is to lay all sprawled out (frog style) with a plushy squeaker chewing and squeaking non stop -- squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak,
there is a panel (36" sq) with a 6" hole across the 2nd bedroom doorway -- cats can go in and out but not the spaniel. this has created a game of "get the Kitty" -- kitty in bedroom, spaniel in hallway, woof, woof, yowl, howl, hiss.
spaniel is so silly - when she plays with the kitty she drops down in front and has her tail end sticking up - wiggling and scooting, she uses her big fluffy paws to bat at the kitty all the while doing her best to not be scratched. kitty usually runs the spaniel all the way down the hallway into the bathroom. (little Kitty is the Boss).
